Hello All; July, 12, 2025
I am in count down mode, anticipating the fall hunting seasons. Start your practice early with your choice of tool with which to take game. Charles can help you hone your shotgun skills with the sporting clays course offered twice monthly through October. The course runs from 10;00 a.m. to 5;00 p.m. and is designed to minimize walking. This short course gives you 50 shots at varying targets at a cost of $20, or $16 if you show membership. Kids 15 and under are charged $10 when accompanied by an adult shooter. The rifle and pistol ranges are open for your practice during daylight hours starting at 7;00 a.m. The Clubs Sight in Days are scheduled for November 8th and 9th starting at 8;00 a.m. and running to 3;00 p.m. Save on ammo and frustration by allowing our team, trained in firearms handling, to assist you in getting your gun hitting the target. Speaking of the ranges, your membership allows you to bring a guest to shoot with you. If you and your spouse are members, that means there can be four of you at one time enjoying the facilities. Another topic that keeps coming up is rapid fire on the the pistol and rifle ranges. The clubs rules prohibit this activity. After years of having this discussion at our meetings and on the ranges with people abusing their firearms and the peace, I think I can explain our position best by saying that myself and other responsible gun owners consider rapid fire as HORSEPLAY. Now I get it that its your gun and money being being wasted on this exercise, and you can do it all you want. Just not at our facility please.
The Club picnic is on Sunday, August 3rd starting at noon, eating around 1;00 p.m.. As usual, meat, beverages and eating utensils are provided by the club. Bring your favorite dish to pass or pay a minimal charge at the door.
The Club has had a very successful year of fundraising again thanks to our dedicated volunteers. These monies help fund our scholarships, operating expenses of the building and grounds and other various contributions to local, worthy organizations. Also, we sponsor The Hunter Safety class, Road cleanup, Walleye program. Some of this takes more elbow grease than money, so we are always looking for able bodied contributors to step up and offer your expertise. Join us for a meeting and see what we have for you to involve yourself in. Some near future projects the Club is working toward are putting in a Handicap accessible outdoor privy along with sidewalks connecting it to the ranges. Another project we will address in the very near future is rebuilding the pier and fishing/viewing bench at the upper end of Mirror Lake. This pier and bench were built and installed several years ago and as with all things earthly has
fallen into disrepair. We have a penchant for recognizing our most industrious members with a plaque. Larry and Arlene Volz were remembered with such a plaque on this bench. In closing, join us at the picnic, join us for a meeting on the second Monday of each month at 7;00 p.m. or join us at the sporting clay shoots. We have a lot to offer and we are anxious to meet you and hopefully see you become interested in hashing out the day to day workings of this organization.
Respectfully,
Mike Koch ( past president)
